Resistance Welding Experts at Buckeye Fasteners Spearhead Challenges with Exotic Metals
Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Buckeye has been anchoring the future since 1905, and continues to innovate new resistance welding solutions to solve their customers’ most complex problems. A concern across manufacturing industries is resistance welding exotic metals, specifically, high strength low alloy steel (HSLA). Maintaining the appropriate temperature to get the projections to set correctly on the material is a complication for many manufacturers. The Resistance Welding staff at Buckeye encourage customers encountering these concerns to send their exotic materials to Buckeye so Buckeye's Resistance Welding Experts can develop the weld schedules necessary to ensure a good weld.
“Once we determine the best way to resistance weld the part, we give our customers the parameters to set up the process in house. Exotic metals like HSLA are stronger than traditional metals and allow for improved applications. We want to ensure that our customers can continue to use exotics to tackle their greatest manufacturing concerns. We’re happy to be part of the process.” says Ron Foreman, Resistance Welding Supervisor.
Buckeye Fasteners Company is a proud corporate member of Resistance Welding Manufacturing Alliance (RWMA) and supporting company of American Welding Society (AWS). Sam Medlin and Ron Foreman pictured above attended resistance welding training at RWMA in November to learn the latest resistance welding techniques and advancements.
“At Buckeye Fasteners, we strive to be on the cutting edge of our industry and learn the latest technological advances in resistance welding. The training we received at RWMA allowed us to improve our processes and continue to provide the greatest products and services to our customers.” says Foreman.
Foreman joined Buckeye Fasteners 37 years ago and has honed his expertise as a welding instructor for 15 years. He was recently was invited to join a task force at RWMA to help develop a new certification program for resistance weld technicians. The group endeavors to create a nationally recognized “Certified Resistance Weld Technician” qualifications, to ensure resistance weld technicians are more marketable and also, are receiving fair pay.
