Buckeye Fasteners is a proud member company of The North Coast Fastener Association (NCFA). NCFA, established in 1982, is a not-for-profit organization made up of volunteers to help inform and educate affiliates of the fastener industry. Last week during the North Coast Fastener Association Distributor Social, members met together to network and tour the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Manufacturing Technology Mobile Training Unit.
Tri-C’s Manufacturing Technology Mobile Unit was developed as a response to the community’s need for manufacturing training. It provides Northeast Ohio manufacturers with training at their job sites, keeping businesses competitive through skills advancements and process improvements for their employees.
The 53 ft mobile unit features a hands-on lab and classroom with an instructor station and 10 student stations, with one station accessible for students with disabilities. The lab can be tailored to train multiple classes at once
through its unique “plug and play” feature, allowing a variety of training units to be connected.
Initial training programs offered include: CNC machining, welding techniques, 3D printing and programmable logic control.
Larry Kelly, Business Development Manager at Buckeye Fasteners, has served as President of NCFA for 2 terms. “It is our goal as an organization to help our members stay on top of the latest trends in manufacturing. We are happy to expose our members to Tri-C’s Mobile Training Unit and provide them with access to on-demand training at their locations”, says Kelly.
